A critical examination of perfectionism in the mass production
The wineglass series “Imperfections” deals with the perfectionism of mass production and specifically critisises it’s sorting mechanisms. In the western Industries the smallest flaw on the surface of an object leads to its direct devaluation and a completely functional product gets thrown away as production reject. “Imperfections” takes mistakes as an inspiration and were normally a tiny glass bubble leads to production waste; this work uses them as the basis of a beautiful design. A wine glass series shows the absurdity with which we sort out products and declare them as waste. At the same time it deals with errors and their aesthetics, playfully it messes with the viewer’s sense of error-tolerance.
