The contrasting elements of the piece playfully interact with each other, allowing the soft shapes and delicate structures to allow colours to appear differently when viewed from different angles. This reveals a new formal language of tridimensional colour gradations. My inspiration derives from transparency, light, space, depths, and colour gradations. When brought together in harmony, these elements turn my sculptures into living objects.
Jonas Noël Niedermann, born 04.12.1990 in St. Gallen, is a Swiss glass artist. His work acts as a conversation between the tradition and future of glass craft, design and art. In 2019 he was awarded the Bündner Craft prize in Switzerland and in 2020 with the Finn Lynggaard Legat at the Glasmuseum in Ebeltoft, Denmark. “I draw the boundaries of my craft further with every experience,” he says, “- The goal is art.”
