LACRIMA

Stéphanie Henry-Seguin

Description

“LACRIMA” is an installation that creates a dialogue between glass and textile, two emblematic and secular traditions in Venice. Stéphanie Henry-Seguin conceived this installation as an expression of her environmental awareness. It evokes the pollution problems affecting all natural water areas on the planet, such as oceans, rivers and the Venetian Laguna. Presented as two contemporary tapestries with dozens of flameworked transparent glass drops sewed onto each. Both have been hand-woven using atypical materials organic and inorganic, as cotton, feathers, electric wires, metal ropes, nylon threads, fishing net fibres, plastic bags, drinking straws. LACRIMA 1 evokes black oil pollution and LACRIMA 2 evokes modern pollution and plastic damages expelled on sea-shore.
