O-Platz. Interstitial Identities. Art Installation by Claudia Virginia Vitari

Claudia Virginia Vitari e Roberto Mastroianni

Description

O-Platz. Interstitial Identities by Claudia Vitari represents the most recent stage of a decade of artistic research focused upon the relationship between the narratives of the Inclusion-Exclusion Principle, Total Institutions and the regulation of bodies: a representation of the Foucauldian "micro-physics of power". The project stems from the participatory observation of the lives and protests of a group of refugees from African countries, Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan who created a permanent garrison that for months coordinated political demonstrations stemming from the occupation of Oranienplatz in Berlin. With observation and graphic documentation conducted between 2014 - 16, the artist has collected portraits and stories of asylum seekers, converging them in an installation work.

The inauguration of this exhibition will take place on September, 11th at the same venue.
