The sculpture is a composition of metal and glass. It is composed of two superposed elements that open simultaneously, thus offering to the eyes a universe set both in motion and in light by a silent mechanical device. Glass tubes, magnifying lenses, stained glass, steel discs join then in a slow and hypnotic dance where colours and shapes appear, gather, disappear.
One constant feature of Sylvain Larrière's sculptures is that they open, thus developing another dimension in space and unveiling a universe until now hidden from the eyes. Having much worked in metal, he has now for some years experienced the use of glass in different forms: magnifying lenses, glass tubes, Fresnel lenses, curved glass, stained glass, drops of optic fibres... all materials that play freely with transparency and reflection.
