The Story of Glass in Buttons

Comune di Venezia in collaboration with Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia

Description

The exhibition offers a very original issue related to a fashion and outfit sector, the Button, a very small object often considered non relevant, exceptional for function and decorative matches, both in feminine and male clothes, used with fabric for ordinary clothes and for fashion couture. The exhibition focuses on the Glass Buttons made in Murano long time ago, according to suggestions of fashion houses of the past, and the free inspiration of master of furnace. It is a collection of authentic and original single pieces marked by the processing of chromatic pastes, often made with costly and exclusive Murrine, micromosaics or evocative and magic pressed paper. Along with the collection of buttons will be exhibited some old and original clothes from the collection of MUVE Foundation (from MUVE Mocenigo Palace Museum).

The exhibition is organized by the Municipality of Venice and Venice Civic Museum Foundation in partnership with Historical Museum of the Button “Sandro Partesotti” of Padua.
